OUR IMPACT
EMPOWERMENT & EDUCATION:
96% of children with disabilities in Uganda do not have access to basic, quality education. We support local schools and organizations with staff, tools and resources to help every child achieve their potential.
Current Project: Amaanyi Center, the first and only Center focused on educating and empowering youth with developmental or cognitive disabilities.
300 Children Educated
OUTREACH:
Due to the severe lack of awareness, most people believe conditions such as Down Syndrome and Autism are the result of curses, sins or demon possessions. Through outreach we educate the community and work with parents to overcome this stigma.
Current Project: #NoMoreHiddenChildren is a growing social movement of Ambassadors who help identify hidden and undiagnosed children and spread the message of acceptance
55,000 attendees; over 100 hidden children identified
TECHNOLOGY:
Leveraging innovative technology solutions reaching even the most remote areas we provide access to life-saving services and build the advocacy effort.
Current Project: Through a grant from Chance for Childhood we are developing an innovative solution that leverages mobile phones to enable rural health workers to identify children with disabilities and provide early intervention.
500 Active Users
EMERGENCY SUPPORT:
Children with disabilities often require unexpected emergency services such as shunt surgeries for children with hydrocephalus or heart surgery for Down Syndrome. Through grant making we establish emergency medical funds for local partners.
Current Project: Emergency fund established with Home of Hope Orphanage
